Dave Kalange / Swim Coach

Dave is a native of Huntsville, Alabama and has been involved in competitive swimming since the age of 4. He has been a competitive runner, triathlete and duathlete from age 6 through high school. Dave and his family have lived in Central Texas since 2004. His wife Sue is an age-group triathlete and his daughter Sydney is excited about riding her bike and swimming.

Dave swimming career highlights include: 

  • 1992 US Olympic Swimming Trials participant
  • USA Swimming Junior National Champion
  • Member of University of Georgia and Ashland University swim teams

    Throughout his career, Dave has had the opportunity to work with or swim for many of Team USA's top swimming coaches. In 2009, ASCA awarded Dave with the Certificate of Excellence for outstanding coaching achievement for coaching multiple swimmers to finals and top 3 finishes at USA Swimming's National Championships

    Dave has even had the opportunity to work with world record holders, Olympic, National and NCAA Champions. His swimmers have qualified for Olympic Trials and USA Swimming Nationals. His swimmers also include Texas State champions, high school, state and national record holders and USA Swimming Junior National champions. All of this experience allows Dave to coach swimmers of all levels from beginners to elite athletes

Zane Castro / Director of Coaching

I have a nagging desire each day when I wake up to contribute to the improvement of sport in the USA. I want to use my years of experience to help athletes meet their goals.”

Zane was educated at Baylor University as an Exercise Scientist, with an emphasis in Performance. He spent the early portion of his coaching career as an Exercises Specialist within a physical therapy unit collaborating with a variety of medical specialist to aid in the progress of quicker healing and rehabilitation. Zane was one of two initial coaches certified in the state of Texas as a Level II USAT Triathlon Elite Coach.

His coaching career includes the development and advancement of the Ecuadorian National Triathlon Team, Two National Olympic Talent recruitment camps, and two regional recruitment camps. Coach and part-time manager for the 1st professional Triathlon Team, utilizing team cycling tactics, ‘Junior Team Aegis.’

He has coached three national program seats, two junior national titles, several world attendees, several professional conversions, a USA Road 100k title and five years of focused regional athlete development. In recent years, Zane has spent most of his time working with a few elite athletes, including his wife, professional IronMan athlete Terra Castro. Zane has a deep interest in cycling dynamics and optimizing bicycle position.

Dale Rogers / Swim Coach

Dale was educated at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.   He started developing his passion for swimming at the early age of 5 and today he has represented the United States in various national and international meets.  During his professional swimming career Dale has had the opportunity to train with great coaches but the one that stands out the most is the United States Olympic Coach Eddie Reese.

· Pan American games Silver Medalist 400m FR-R
· 6th fastest American in100m freestyle for 2006
· 14 Time All-American
· National Champion
